+Betty Rodela, mother of Basilica choir member Lou Rodela (who is married to Laina Rodela) passed away on Dec. 12, 2021 at the age of 92. Bishop Stika has announced the passing last night of +Fr. Joe Brando, who had his first priestly assignment at Sts. Peter and Paul, and had been planning to celebrate the 50th anniversary of his priesthood next June, here at Sts. Peter and Paul. Fr. Brando's funeral will be at the Basilica Friday, Dec. 17, at our 12pm Mass time. Please pray for the repose of the soul of +Fr. Joe Brando.
Anita Holcomb, who has been suffering terminal cancer for several years, suffered a stroke at the age of 81, and passed away on Dec. 9, 2021. Fr. Carter has was able to give her the Last Rites. Please pray for the repose of the soul of +Marie Josephine Awad, 95, of Chattanooga, TN, who passed on Sunday, Nov. 7, 2021. Marie had a passion for the arts and travel and worked in advertising and retail sales with Miller Brothers, Proffitt's, Loveman's and Belk. She was a member of The Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul and secretary of the Latin Club and English Club as part of the NDHS Class of 1944. Family will receive friends on Friday, Nov. 12 from 1-2pm at The Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul. A Rosary will be prayed for Marie at 1:30pm. Funeral Mass will follow at 2pm.
On All Souls Day, Nov. 2, The Basilica will honor our loved ones who have gone before us with a traditional lighting of luminaries and Rosary service outdoors following 5pm Vespers. Memorial Mass 7am Nov. 11 at the Basilica for +Therese Catherine Giles Paullus, who died Sept. 6, 2021 at the age of 93. Therese had attended Sts. Peter and Paul her whole life until moving to CA more than 20 years ago. She was a former student of the "Old Notre Dame" school. Her grandparents lived in their house at the corner of Houston and 8th, and her great-grandfather was a brick mason who helped to build Sts. Peter and Paul. Patricia Carney's funeral will be held at the Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul Thursday, September 30, 2021, at 1:30pm. All are invited to come and pray for her soul. Patricia was diagnosed with COVID-19 after symptoms began on Sept. 4, and she was admitted to the COVID ICU on Sept. 13. After receiving last rites and shortly after returning home to reunite with her children, she passed away on September 23 at 9:35pm, in the presence of her six children. A nurse with many years of child care experience, Patricia had recently accepted the position as one of our new Nursery attendants but had not had a chance to begin serving. Please pray for the repose of her soul and for her family.

22-year-old Humberto Diaz Perez, Basilica parishioner and graduate of Howard High School, passed away on September 6. His family has been active at the Basilica for years. Humberto's funeral Mass will be at the Basilica in Spanish on Saturday, September 11, at 1pm. May his soul rest in peace.
David Lawrence Rack, a long-time Basilica parishioner who had moved to Alexian Village, died on August 13. David served in the U. S. Air Force during the Vietnam war, then as an FBI agent, and an investigator at Unum. David also sang in the Choo Choo Chorus. The family is having a private funeral and burial, due to COVID-19. 25-year old Abigail Rose Tobin, daughter of Diane & Michael Tobin, passed away Monday, June 28. Please pray especially the Divine Mercy Chaplet for Abigail, her two children, and family. Basilica parishioner Geiner Alisandro Villatoro Costanza died on June 20, 2021 when his car was hit by a semi-truck on the interstate. The family will receive friends at the Jim Rush Funeral home in Cleveland, TN, on June 25 from 5pm-8pm and June 26, from 12pm-1:30pm, followed by a private service for the family at 2pm. Geiner's body will be sent to Guatemala for burial in his home country. May Geiner's soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
John Lambiase was born on March 24, 1940 and passed away on June 5, 2021. His funeral will be at the Basilica 10:30am on June 12. He was a lifelong Catholic and was a resident at Alexian Village. May John's soul, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Genevieve Lonnie Spann Jennings passed into eternity June 3, 2021. A former schoolteacher, Genevieve was a long-time parishioner of Sts. Peter and Paul and is survived by her husband, David Lee Jennings. Public viewing will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2021 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm at John P. Franklin Funeral Home.
