East 8th Street will be closed in front of the church for three days, from December 13-15, while a crane is on-site repairing loose mortar on the bell tower. During this time, there will not be thru-traffic between Georgia Ave. and Lindsey St. The Basilica main parking lot will be closed. Visitors can park at All Saints Academy at 310 E 8th Street, accessed from Lindsey Street. (There is no need to pay for parking while the crane is present.) The front entrance to the church will not be accessible. The Basilica campus can only be accessed by walking through the side gate on Lindsey Street at the St. Dominic Building. Visitors can then enter the church through the lower level glass door entrance to Varallo Parish Hall. Thank you for your patience as we make these repairs necessary for everyone's safety.
At the recommendation of the Parish Pastoral Council and our Facilities Advisory Committee about possibilities for our property at All Saints Academy, we are conducting a three-month study Sept. 18 through Dec. 12, 2023, to determine the viability of offering paid parking to the public at All Saints Academy, our property at 310 E 8th Street. If you park there to attend Mass or another Basilica event, you will not have to pay during the event. However, you will need to immediately validate your parking at the Basilica with your smartphone by taking a picture of the QR code displayed at each entrance of our buildings, and then enter your license plate number and phone number.
A special advisory about PARKING: We appreciate the privilege to park in the lot behind the Carnegie Building directly to the west of the Basilica on 8th St., during our weekend Masses. The owners of that building have advised us that their parking lot is being re-paved and will be unavailable the weekend of May 7 & 8 only. Weekend parking will still be available next to the church, across from the church entrance, at All Saints Academy (310 E 8th St), and in the UTC parking lot across from All Saints.
Our immediate neighbors to the right (west) in the Carnegie Building generously allow us to park in their upper parking deck on the weekend. They have kindly informed us that the weekend of March 19-20 they are having work done on their parking lot and so it will not be available to us. There should be plenty of parking available in the other lots we normally use. Next weekend the Carnegie Building lot is expected to be available again.
We appreciate the privilege to park in the lot behind the Carnegie Building (formerly Lawrence & Lawrence), directly to the west of the Basilica on 8th St., during our weekend Masses. UPDATE: The re-paving of this lot has been rescheduled, and the lot will be available to us on the weekend of Nov. 13 & 14, after all.
